So, here’s the story. Back in 2009 we built a super awesome web app called the *Dialogue App*. It was built initially as a collaborative project with NAPA in the US for use by the GSA and the White House. Excitingly the White House used the Dialogue App to run President Obama’s first crowd-sourcing project on Recovery.gov.
After the work with the White House we then went on to completely rebuild the Dialogue App thanks to investment from Department of Homeland Security – who wanted to use it for an agency wide dialogue project called *The Quadrennial Review*.
What this DoHS rebuild allowed us to do (with some further investment of our own) was build the Dialogue App into a fully robust scaleable platform, meaning we could (at a click of a button) roll-out new versions for any client who wanted to run their own online community dialogue or crowdsourcing process. And it was because of this *quick deployment* model that the UK Coalition used the Dialogue App to run their nationwide Spending Challenge and Your Freedom dialogues in 2010.
Fast forward 12 months, after being used by an awesome selection of governments around the world, we’re opening up the platform and providing an updated version for FREE to community groups around the world as part of our *Global Dialogue Project*.
The #GlobalDialogueProject is aimed at promoting the art and value of dialogue in localised communities. With the obvious ubiquity of online dialogue in this social media age, the value and quality of dialogue and the role it can play in community problem solving is often forgotten. The #GlobalDialogueProject aims to go some way to changing this.
We plan to do this through a mixture of *tools and tutoring* – i.e. by providing tips and advice on how to run good online dialogues, and by providing the Dialogue App to help run your dialogues.
The #GlobalDialogueProject is a community project, so is only open to not-for-profits and community groups (or public / government bodies working with community groups). To kick things off we’re aiming to launch 100+ online dialogues across the world – so if you represent a community group, then do get in touch and we’ll get you set-up and launched. Email info@Delib.co.uk.
We’re also keen to spread the word – so please do Tweet / Facebook / Share this post (and our poster!) to as many people as possible.
