Participatory Budgeting using online tools = e-PB

Delib are really excited to be hosting a seminar on Participatory Budgeting and e-Democracy with the PB Unit in London on 2nd April. The seminar is to gather views and experiences on e-PB which can then be consolidated and used to inform and guide future work in this area.

This is an invite only event but all the details and outcomes will be disseminated widely, including the Delib blog. We are incredibly keen to have a frank and productive exchange of ideas and best practice which can then be used to kick start e-PB in the UK.

Introducing an online element to UK Participatory Budgeting is vital to ensure the necessary scope, accessibility and  further deliberation needed to really get the most out of this process.

For more information about Participatory Budgeting check out the PB Unit’s website. Alternatively there is an active Facebook group which has a lot of the latest PB and e-PB  news which is a fantastic resource.

If anyone has anything to share on this topic we would love to hear from you. Just leave a comment or email me (michaela@delib.co.uk) or Gez (gez@delib.co.uk).

One Response to Participatory Budgeting using online tools = e-PB

  1. Great job…and long overdue. The PB unit have played-down ePB for a long while.

The Consultation Institute/Public-i and ICELE both wrote papers on ePB, suggest you look at these.

Also, some of the best examples come from the continental EuroZone (check out http://www.demos-budget.eu/)

    Bye :_)
