We launched another Dialogue App for UK Central Government last week, this time called the Spending Challenge, which is asking for people’s ideas on public spending and how money might be saved, be it from a small issue or a more radical change in how government works.
It’s sparking real debate at the moment, and we’re pleased to say we’ve been able to open up even more information about the site through a custom Twitter feed we’ve implemented.
So now, not only can you take an RSS feed of the content people are submitting to the site, you can also see how many registered users, ideas, comments, ratings and tags the site has, updated on a regular basis.
At the time of writing we’re just coming up towards 18,000 registered users and have hit over 15,000 ideas submitted.
Keep an eye on the Spending Challenge Twitter feed for updates!
As ever, if you’d like to start your own online dialogue, then you can with your own free Dialogue App.
It is such a pity that your app doesn’t really do the job.
Any competent web master and site owner, where any form of social networking takes place, knowns that when it comes to Moderation – if you hit the moderation button the offensive post should be removed until studied by Moderators. It just reduces liabilities and risk of litigation – financial loss and damage to reputation.
Hide Post Moderation Buttons just make sure that Offensive and legally actionable material is removed with “Reasonable Care” and in a way that is defensible in court. Do Look Up Godfrey Vs Demon Internet – It is applicable case law and has been for over 10 years!
The way your app is being used is leading to complaint to the police, Equality And Human Rights Commission and the Internet watch Foundation and brings many areas of law into play.
The way your app operates is also causing the Treasury to FAIL to comply with Equality Duties and allowing for Racist, Homophobic and Disablist Dross to remain visible for days – and leaves the Treasury not only looking a laughing stock but also open to litigation – wasting Public Funds.
The fools who are posting this dross are also falling Foul of section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 and face prosecution.
Not a very good advert, is it?
The Tag Cloud works beautifully though – so easy to tag them with
“Abuse race, Abuse Racial, Abuse Disabled, Abuse Disability, Abuse Equality, Abuse Minority, Abusive Post, Abuse Legal, Abuse Harassment, Equality, Scheme, Equality Scheme, Equality Duty, Duty, Race, Racism, Hate, Crime, Litigation, Incompetence, Foreseeable, EHRC, Judicial, Review, Public, Order, Act, Section, 5, Five, Harassment, Risk, Management, Compliance, Notice, Notices, protofascism, Disability Harassment, Hate Crime, Abuse”
It does make it so much easier for the Police, EHRC and other interested parties to get to the right place with minimal effort!
On the other hand it would be better if your app just dealt with legal reality for site owners, and not just Technical Application!
I agree.
Ps – your RSS feed is not working for the spending challenge.
How much did you charge the treasury for this work btw?
